Este otoño ya nos ha traído sol, lluvia y nuevos brotes a la región de Maule y ahora nos llega el proyecto “Héroe: Compartir la vida y arte de un comediante migrante en el Maule” del artista escénico Robert Cartwright quien quiere iluminar el invierno con cuatro presentaciones de su comedia Héroe en cuatro localidades de la región.
El objetivo del proyecto tal como su título refiere, es compartir el arte y vida del comediante, quien migró a nuestro país en el 2008 y así contextualizar sobre la vida de un extranjero en Chile y la importancia de la aceptación en ese proceso. Además el proyecto generará instancias de reflexión y dialogo entre el comediante y los vecinos locales sobre la migración, la historia autobiográfica y el suicidio – temas que son tratados dentro de la obra en una manera lúdica y poética.
Es la segunda vez que Cartwright trabaja con la migración en Chile. En el 2016, junto con la directora Sarah Hart; el músico Felipe Caceres; y el actor Elias Sepulveda, realizaron el proyecto Relatos Migrantes que consistió de talleres con migrantes y un performance para la educación media, sobre el impacto positivo de la inmigración en Chile y específicamente en Valparaíso.
Durante Junio y Julio, en colaboración con La Pala – Espacio Cultural y la Agrupación Cultural Ayekantún, se presentará Héroe en la Escuela Básica de Panimávida; La Pala – Espacio Cultural en Linares; el Liceo Ignacio Carrera Pinto en Colbún; y la última función en el pueblo de Rari, donde se radica el artista. Cada función culminará con una actividad de mediación cultural en la cual el público y el artista podrán compartir impresiones, anécdotas y experiencias para enriquecer las relaciones y conocimientos del público asistente.
Este proyecto está financiado por el Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Cultural y las Artes 2018 en la línea de Culturas Migrantes del Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio.

This Autumn has brought rain, sun and lots of new plants in Maule, the seventh region of Chile, and now it brings us the project “Héroe: Sharing the life and art of a migrant comedian in Maule” the idea of Australian comedian Robert Cartwright who wants to illuminate the winter season with four performances of his comedy Héroe in four different localities in Maule.
The project, as its name suggests, aims to share the life and art of the comedian, who came to Chile in 2008 and through this sharing, contextualise the life of a foreigner in Chile and the importance of acceptance in this process. The project will mediate with the audience about migration, our autobiographies and suicide – themes which the comedian plays with poetically in the performance.
This is the second time that Cartwright has played a key role in artistic projects focused on migration in Chile. In 2016, together with the director Sarah Hart, the musician Felipe Caceres and the actor Elias Sepulveda, the group facilitated the project Relatos Migrantes (Migrant´s Stories) which consisted of workshops with migrants and a performance for high school students, through a participatory play focused on the positive impact of migration in Chile and specifically in Valparaiso.
During June and July, in collaboration with local groups La Pala Cultural Centre and the Cultural Group Ayekantun, Héroe will be performed in cultural and educational institutions in Panimavida, Linares, Colbun and finally in Rari, where Cartwright has been participating in artistic residencies since 2012 with the Chilean dance and theatre company AguaSakra. Each performance will be complimented by a cultural mediation activity which will allow the audience and the artist to share their impressions, anecdotes and experiences, and as a byproduct, enrich the relationship and understanding of those present.
This project is financed with the Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Cultural y las Artes 2018 (National Funding for Cultural and Artistic Development 2018) in the section of Culturas Migrantes (Migrant Cultures) by the Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio (Ministry of Culture, Arts and Patrimony).
