Chiclayo, you invited me
And I travelled three days to come
You opened up your doors to me
And i banged my head on some
You put a roof over my bruised head
And I listened to your horns and whistles from my bed
Chiclayo, you invited me and I came
You gave and gave and gave
And i took and tried and earned
You said nothing was permitted
And i did nothing in return
You watched my art of nothing
And I gave your coins to those that begged
You pulled a gun on my dirty clothes
And I thought I’d met my death
You saw and changed my future
And I played upon your past
You let me be myself
And i let you look and laugh
