Here I am again in the chaos which is FIACPO. A multi arts festival organised by Pumaskalla kids, a group of primary and high school children that play soccer on stilts, belt out batucada rhythms on marching drums and create theatre shows. A stage is set up and installed on the corner of a residential street and the artists are hosted and fed in the primary school where many of the Pumaskalla kids study. This year, the local council have torn up the pavement which was the street and left the street a strip of sand, which after heavy rainfall the day before the festival begins, is a muddy situation. But with buckets of sand and to the tune of their favourite hiphop, everything is apparently on track!
